MIA was built in Brisbane in 1965 and until the 1980's plied the placid waters of the Brisbane River, before coming down to Palm Beach and operating on Pittwater and the Hawkesbury River.

Over the last few years, MIA now sails the more scenic waters of Sydney Harbour, from the tranquility of the Lane Cove and Parramatta Rivers, the bustling and ever changing sights of the main harbour to the quiet serenity of the bushland setting of Middle Harbour where you can be totally isolated from the city, surrounded by secluded beaches and the Australian bushland.

Since operating in Sydney, passenger capacity has been almost halved to avoid overcrowding, so evident on many other charter boats. Originally designed to carry 85 passengers, MIA now carries only smaller groups of 45 or less, making her the most spacious charter boat for her size on Sydney Harbour.

Besides having a large open upper deck and open stern deck, she has a very spacious interior with large windows for spectacular viewing, making the MIA the ideal all weather charter boat, rain or shine. Mia is also equipped with a stack CD player for onboard music - bring your own music if you like.

Combine a Harbour Cruise with a day out on one of the uninhabited islands in the Harbour. Shark, Clark and Rodd Islands provide excellent picnic facilities and a safe environment for children. These islands have secluded grass areas, small beaches, walking tracks and provide spectacular views of the harbour. Catering can also be provided at a small additional cost.

MIA takes part in all the harbour activties throughout the year, such as the start of the Sydney-Hobart yacht race, New Years Eve, Australia Day, ferry races, boat shows and all other special activities on Sydney Harbour.

In 1999-2000 MIA won the "CLASSIC WOODEN FERRY CHALLENGE and in 2001 was fully upgraded with better than ever passenger facilities. Mia now is arguably the best small ferry boat on the harbour today.

If you require a specific date, it is wise to check availability, as forward bookings are required especially for peak periods such as holidays, weekends, special events etc. We are totally flexible regarding the duration of the cruise and longer cruise is possible at a nominal additional cost. Your cruise date is confirmed upon receipt of the agreed deposit with the balance payable on the day, prior to the completion of the cruise.
